Four hotels built out of sleeping modules rather than rooms. Two sit inside Tokyo buildings, one inside an airport concourse and one inside a Singapore shophouse that predates the idea by a century.
The capsule is the smallest unit that still counts as a place to sleep, and it has no window. That single fact moves almost everything into the column of work that has to be kept going. A small hotel room is not a capsule.

what holds itself up
The capsules sit inside an existing structure, so the outer building already carries the load and keeps the weather out. Stacking them in two tiers uses the height of a floor that would otherwise be empty air. Shared washing and locker rooms keep plumbing gathered in one place.
what has to be kept going
A capsule has no openable window, so air is delivered and removed mechanically for every module, day and night. Guests turn over daily, which means bedding and each capsule shell are cleaned between users. Lighting and sound in a shared sleeping hall are managed rather than left to chance.

what holds itself up
Capsules are fitted into an ordinary commercial floor plate, so the host building takes the structure and the weather. Bathing, lockers and lounge are pooled, which keeps the sleeping units small and dry. Interior placement means no capsule depends on a facade for anything.
what has to be kept going
Hot water for a communal bath runs on plant that is heated, filtered and monitored continuously. Steam has to be drawn out of the bathing rooms or it finds the ceilings. Every capsule takes its air from ductwork, and the shared floors are cleaned repeatedly across a day.

Tattoo rules can apply in communal bathing areas, so ask before you arrive if that affects you.

what holds itself up
The terminal already holds the roof up, keeps the desert heat outside and runs day and night, so the cabins only have to be a room within a room. Being airside removes the journey between bed and gate. Nothing here depends on weather at all.
what has to be kept going
Sleep in a concourse only works if the noise of the terminal is held back, so surfaces and enclosures do that work continuously. Cabins turn over at any hour, in short blocks, which puts cleaning on a near-constant loop. Air and cooling come from terminal plant that never stops.

Check which terminal and concourse the lounge sits in, because you cannot cross between all of them airside.

what holds itself up
A shophouse is long and thin with party walls on both sides, so the neighbours carry some of the heat load. The shell is already there, already shaded by the street, and already carrying the floors. Capsules simply line the depth that the plan gives them.
what has to be kept going
Deep plans in the tropics get no cross draught, so air is pushed to the back of the building mechanically all year. Humidity has to be pulled out of the air before it settles into bedding and timber. A protected shophouse frontage is repaired under rules that limit what may change.

The building is a stair building, so ask about access if carrying luggage upstairs is a problem.
